Carl Lesh wins top decorating prize

A Basingstoke painter and decorator has been announced as winner of the Use of Dulux Colour of the Year award at the national Dulux Select Decorators Awards.

Carl Lesh was shortlisted in the category in recognition of his expertise in delivering a quality finish with Spiced Honey - Dulux Colour of the Year 2019 - including giving his client colour scheming advice, as well as adding the finishing touch with accessory choice.

He was revealed as the winner at the Dulux Select Decorators Awards 2019 on Tuesday 26th November at the National Painting and Decorating Show.

Winners of all the categories, as well as an overall Grand Winner, were recognised at a new-look gala dinner championing decorating professionals from around the UK.

The Dulux Select Decorators scheme enrols professional decorators who undergo rigorous assessments to become members - they must have at least three years’ experience in the trade and have run their own business for a minimum of 12 months.

Following pre-dinner drinks, a three-course meal and entertainment, the judges took to the stage to announce the winners.

Carl said: “I am so proud to be named winner in this extra-special Dulux Select Decorators award category. I was thrilled with the final result of the project - as was the homeowner. I’m looking forward to being able to show them the award!”

Carl was also a Shortlisted Finalist in the Best Newcomer category.

Vickie Mather, Dulux Select Decorators Lead said: “It was fantastic to recognise Carl for his excellent workmanship with the Dulux Colour of the Year at the awards ceremony.

“Customers are looking to their decorators for help with their colour schemes more than ever, so for Carl to be able to take on this project and lead right through to the end is a brilliant example of best practise.

“The awards ceremony was a great opportunity to reflect on the hard work and dedication all our Dulux Select Decorators give the painting and decorating trade - as well as recognising those that go above and beyond in providing exceptional workmanship for their clients.”
