Fireworks and Christmas lights events cancelled

Aldershot’s annual fireworks display, due to take place in Manor Park at the end of October, has been cancelled due to the pandemic.

The Rushmoor Fireworks Spectacular, which attracts crowds of more than 10,000 people, is the latest major event in the borough’s packed events calendar to be called off.

The Aldershot Christmas lights switch-on event, scheduled for 21 November, has also been cancelled, although Rushmoor BoroughCouncil is planning a programme of smaller scale Christmas activities with community groups.

Although it will be delivered in a different format, with a reduced number of stalls, the annual Farnborough Frost Fair on 28th November is still planned to go ahead.

Cllr Marina Munro said: “While I’m sure that the news of cancellation won’t come as a shock to anyone, we are still incredibly disappointed.”
