The Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Bruce Tennent, has officially opened the new Woodland Café and indoor play area ‘The Holt’ - named after an otter den.

The café, which opened its doors to visitors over the summer, will launch its new menu later this autumn. Housed in the newly refurbished Highwood Barn with its impressive vaulted ceiling, the new Woodland Café offers a range of hot drinks, delicious cakes, light bites and lunches, with seating for up to 40 people. The new indoor play area provides a sheltered and unique experience for children aged six and below.

Cllr Cynthia Garton, Chair of Hedge End, West End and Botley Local Area Committee says ‘We are already incredibly proud of Itchen Valley Country Park and now with the addition of the new café and beautifully crafted play area, it is truly a year round destination – sealing its place as the jewel in our crown. We are committed to making our country park an enjoyable destination for visitors and so the local area committee is thrilled that this latest addition has already been enjoyed by residents and visitors alike over the summer months.’
