Local advice charity, Citizens Advice Winchester District is relocating to Colebrook Street on Monday 10 June where it will continue to provide thousands of local people with free, independent advice.
The charity will close its doors at their existing base on St George’s Street on Friday 31 May, and service will be suspended for a week while the move into the new space takes place.
The charity is enormously grateful to Winchester City Council for providing them with the opportunity to relocate into this new rental space, and for refurbishing and modernising the site which was previously used as the council’s cash office.
Natalie Webb, Chief Officer of Citizens Advice Winchester District says: “We have been on the look-out for a new space to run our service for some years now, but finding something that had the right space, accessibility and rental cost for what we needed was not easy.”
“The new space is in a fabulous location and being on the ground floor, is much more accessible than our current space on St George’s St. Being adjacent to the City Council offices will also have many advantages for our clients, particularly those with issues around housing or benefits.”
Citizens Advice has existed in Winchester for over 60 years providing free, confidential advice to anyone that needs help. The top issues they help people with are money, debt and benefits advice, as well as problems relating to housing, employment and family.
Laura Taylor, Chief Executive of Winchester City Council, said: “Winchester City Council is delighted to be able to support Citizens Advice with this relocation. We have long recognised the essential service they provide in supporting Winchester district residents with a range of issues, improving lives and helping vulnerable people get the support they need.”
If you need advice between 31 May and 10 June when the Winchester service is temporarily closed then please call Advice Line on 03444 111 306 or log on to citizensadvice.org.uk. Alternatively the Citizens Advice service in Bishop’s Waltham will be open as usual (Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00-14:00).
