Trinity Winchester is once again hosting the Big Sleep Out to raise money for their work with homeless and other vulnerable people, but this year in a new venue — in the Bishop of Winchester’s grounds at Wolvesey.
On Friday 11th May up to 200 people are expected to brave the elements and take on the challenge of sleeping outside for the night.
The sixth Winchester Big Sleep Out is being sponsored by Rathbones Investment Management. Partner Christopher Swan said: “Rathbones are delighted to be supporting the Big Sleep Out this year. Trinity has been a charity close to our heart since helping with the appeal to build Bradbury House ten years ago. Over the last year the company has helped to fund Trinity’s learning programme, hosted a Carol Concert, and will be doing a week of volunteering at the centre in summer. The Sleep Out is another great way to get involved. We are proud to be the headline sponsors, and I am looking forward to joining several of my colleagues from our office here in Winchester for the Sleep Out on the 11th.”
Sue McKenna, Chief Executive of Trinity Winchester, commented: “This is by far our favourite event of the year. We see people from all over the city coming together for this unique night. The sleep out is not an experience of homelessness, as we will all return to a warm shower and home the following morning, but is an eye opening way to raise money and awareness for our services. Last year over £35,000 was put back into providing long-term support for vulnerable people. Please sign up to help us raise this again. We would like to thank the Bishop and his team for allowing us to use his front garden, this will put a new spin on the much loved night!”
The maximum number of participants is 200, with spaces filling up quickly. Registration is open now at trinitywinchester.org.uk/bigsleepout
